Keep Creating
In this blog, I talk about why I create and how to keep going.

Sometimes we see a work of art; a painting, a picture with a quote, or even something like a keychain, a scarf, or a dress. We get so moved by it that it sparks something within us.
Then we think to ourselves, “I can only imagine making something like that.”
Why don’t you?
So you start. You start shaky and unsure, and almost immediately, you become disappointed because you see that your work is not that “good.” You’re so far from where you want to be. Yet you keep trying.
You work on your craft day after day for hours on end and then slowly, you notice your lines become straighter. Your color choices start to make sense.
Creating is a chore if you don’t do it for yourself. We create because we want to express ourselves. So the next time you’d want to create, ask yourself, what do I want to see next?
This is an important value of creating things. If you keep creating for yourself–to express yourself better to the world, you’ll find your community easier, or your community will find you. Either way, a community is helpful (in social media) to get connected with likeminded people.
I recently released a podcast episode on Steph’s Breakfast Club called,” Why I Create” and there I said, I create to be seen and to be remembered. I also want to be understood as a whole. If you keep creating, no matter what medium you use: music, food, digital (visual), clay, etc, you’ll be better understood and your self will come out in what you create.
Always go back to why you create. Go back to that artwork that encouraged you and inspired the artist within you. Remember that spark and keep the fire burning. Keep creating.
