If you’re new here, let me introduce myself. Hi, I’m Steph. Welcome to my portfolio!

It’s 2025 and all I can think about is how to sum up all my experiences and strengths in one document. That’s the thing though, I can’t. This is why I created this website. I want to create a space where I can put all of my work.

Just by browsing the home page, you can tell that I’ve kept myself busy over the years. It’s because I believed my dad when he said, “Smart people never get bored.”

I like to describe myself as a “perpetual learner.” It’s always exciting to learn new things and to explore what you can do with that skill. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have ADHD. I just really hate wasting time. So, whether it’s in between breaks, or long days, I always make sure I have something to do.

I’m glad I found a way to be creative, because it hasn’t always been like this. There was a time when I had more strictly academic and scientific pursuits rather than creative ones. Once upon a time, not so long ago, I was in medical school. Grades meant more to me than anything else. My turning point was when I was already a clerk in my final year of medical schooling, that I realized I didn’t have the heart to deal with mortalities and morbidities in the hospital. Some say it’s because I’m too empathetic; that I feel too much for my patients. I agree with them.

While I was in medical school though, during my free time, I would make soaps. I experimented with a lot of organic ingredients and packaging. I turned it into Andin Organics, an environmentally friendly soap business. It didn’t take long before Andin Organics was discovered by BeautyMNL and Calyxta, the two biggest websites for local beauty products. This was years before Shopee and Lazada took over.

I did all the work for Andin Organics. I made the soaps, took the photos, managed its Instagram and Facebook accounts, and even created a website. It was through this experience that I learned the value of interpreting data gathered by the social media platforms (it was Facebook Business and Instagram separately, before there was Meta Business Suite). It was a one-woman show that included production, selling, packing, and shipping.

For the reason of focusing on medical school, I had to stop managing Andin Organics.

Fast forward to 2021, when I was looking for jobs during my 2-year break from medical school, I did a teaching demonstration for an Australian tutoring company, AnGenius. I prepared a lecture on Biochemistry before the interview part of the hiring process. When asked about my other skills, I mentioned Andin Organics and Pana, another business that I launched during medical school. The owner proceeded to ask me questions about my knowledge of running social media accounts. Back then, I didn’t know my experience in managing my own businesses counted as actual experience. But because of those experiences, I was hired, not as a Biochemistry tutor, but as their Marketing Head and Social Media Manager. That was my first job in the Social Media scene.

I want to continue by saying “And they lived happily ever after,” but that wasn’t the case. After months trying to explore the Philippine market, they realized it would not be profitable to keep competing with local tutorial services.

I took on different roles in the social media field after AnGenius. I became a Marketing Officer, Social Media Strategist, Social Media Manager, and recently, a Digital Marketing Specialist. I worked with both local and global brands like Doorbell Tech, Whitewall Design Studios, and Swatch Philippines.

Sometimes I work as a freelancer, but most of the time, I’m employed full-time. What’s good about it is that I honestly enjoy what I do. I enjoy being creative and expressing myself. I like talking to people (not literally because I’m an introvert) and conveying messages for various brands. I love the creative process involved in content creation, and I love the analytical and critical thinking required to analyze the data and shift the strategy based on the numbers.

In this section of my website, I will share with you the knowledge and information I’ve learned about social media since 2018. Don’t worry, I’ll also keep you updated on recent updates of the different platforms, and the newest tips about the algorithm changes.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you want to chat or just say hi, please leave me a message. I’d love to get in touch with you.
